Exacerbating the Extended Delivery Times With USPS: The Holiday Season
Every year, we notify customers in advance about the delays with customs clearance and delivery that occur during the holiday season. But with the holiday season approaching during this time of pandemic, we remind customers well in advance to plan far ahead when ordering because the United States Postal Service is already facing significantly increased package volumes and delays which could get worse as package volumes increase further due to the holiday season.
Our own experience in shipping packages throughout the pandemic confirms the "major delays, lack of communication with consumers" at USPS that are reported in a recent investigation by NBC News affiliate, KCRA 3 in California. Delivery delays with USPS have even meant delays for veterans receiving medications from the Veterans Administration for critical prescriptions. Throughout the country, there are stories in the news of others who are being left without lifesaving prescription drugs due to delivery delays - the most recent being an 82 year old Texan who went without his heart medication for a week. USPS is struggling with the pandemic-related increases in package volumes as they operate under unprecedented circumstances.

For orders shipped to our customers in June 2020, the average delivery time was three to six weeks. Please note that these are the average delivery timelines we are observing but some parcels are arriving as quickly as a week after shipping while others can take more than six weeks. We will have collated our data on the average delivery time for orders shipped in July by the end of this month and will provide that information in an upcoming newsletter.
The good news is that NorthWestPharmacy.com has been successfully taking, processing and delivering affordable prescription drugs throughout the entire coronavirus crisis and continues to do so.
USPS Has Just Announced a Holiday Mail Surcharge So Take Advantage of Our Potentially Time-Limited Reduced Shipping Fee Now
USPS has just announced a temporary price increase starting October 18th, "in response to increased expenses and heightened demand for online shopping package volume due to the coronavirus pandemic and expected holiday ecommerce." While we are in the process of confirming whether this will impact last mile delivery costs of packages entering the USA from abroad (and are hopeful it will not), we have already incurred significant rate increases when shipping customer parcels since the pandemic began.
Yet we've reduced our shipping fee to help minimize the impact on our customers and make it easier to order their medications now. But we do not know what further Covid-19 surcharges or other rate increases we will face in the coming weeks so we may only be able to maintain the lower shipping fee of today for a limited time.
Please take advantage of the potentially time-limited reduced shipping fee and don't wait for more pharmaceutical shortages, product price increases, or delivery systems to experience further delays as the holiday season approaches and the coronavirus continues to spread. We encourage customers who may need medications in the coming months to place their orders now.
