The United States and much of the rest of the world is heavily reliant on Indian made finished dosages of prescription drugs and India is in turn heavily reliant on Chinese active pharmaceutical ingredients that are required to produce those finished dosages.

So, last month we explained that cargo flight suspensions, lockdowns and Covid-19 outbreaks in India put the worldwide supply of pharmaceuticals at risk. These developments are also putting upward pressure on the cost of raw materials for manufacturing prescription drugs, as reported recently in the Pharma Letter, a pharmaceutical industry publication, which states:
Yes, "trebled" means the prices of these raw materials has "tripled"! This is not limited to drugs used for Covid-19 treatment.
Another significant pressure increasing drug prices is the weakness of the US dollar, as discussed in a recent newsletter. The US dollar has lost substantial buying power against foreign currencies that prescription drugs and their raw materials are often priced in.
The best thing you can do to help secure inventory for your medications at the current prices is to order well in advance. This gives us more time, if necessary, to procure what might be difficult to source inventory and get it shipped to you well before you are going to run out of your supply at home and before there are any increases in the price.
