A couple of our recent newsletters have notified customers that schemes being proposed by various US politicians (both Democrats and Republicans) to import Canadian drugs in wholesale for sale by US pharmacies appear to represent adept politicking rather than a genuine solution to the exorbitant cost of drugs in the United States.
Next month, they will bring into force regulations that will readily prohibit the wholesale export of any drug …
In a July 2021 newsletter, titled “Wholesale Importation of Canadian Drugs: Real Savings for Americans or Just More Politics?”, we stated:
The Canadian government is now making good on their promise. Next month, they will bring into force regulations that will readily prohibit the wholesale export of any drug that could cause or aggravate a drug shortage. According to the Government of Canada, this was enacted to ‘help safeguard the Canadian drug supply by ensuring that bulk importation frameworks, such as the one recently established by the United States, do not cause or exacerbate a drug shortage in Canada’.
